			<summary type="html"><![CDATA[<p>I ran across this today about a former Tob still in the majors:</p><p>Verlander named AL Pitcher of the Month</p><p>New York, NY (Sports Network) - Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander was named the American League&#039;s Pitcher of the Month for May.</p><p>Over six starts, Verlander went 5-0 with a 1.52 earned-run average, leading the majors with 56 strikeouts while allowing just one home run. The fifth-year pro recorded 11-or-more strikeouts in three of his starts, only the second time in his career he managed to pull off the feat.</p><p>The 26-year-old Virginia native has followed up a disappointing 11-17 year in 2008 by going 6-2 with a 3.63 ERA and one complete game over 11 starts in 2009.</p><p>Others receiving consideration were Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay (4-0, 1.76 ERA, 36 K in 46 innings); Kansas City&#039;s Zack Greinke (3-1, 1.57 ERA) and AL Rookie of the Month and Verlander&#039;s teammate Rick Porcello (5-0, 1.50</p>]]></summary>
